Living on the sea front in the beautiful Isle of Man, I could think of no better decoration for a fruit bowl than shells and mermaids. The island's rich Celtic folklore is deeply tied to mermaids, otherwise known in Manx as Ben-varrey. 
 
This hand painted fruit bowl celebrates Isle of Man folklore in a delftware style. The hand manipulated ruffles lend to the maritime theme as the piece almost takes the shape of a shell.
