Living on the sea front in the beautiful Isle of Man, I couldn't resist making a mermaid butter dish. The island's rich Celtic folklore is deeply tied to mermaids, otherwise known in Manx as Ben-varrey. 
 
This hand painted butter dish celebrates Isle of Man folklore in a delftware style. The hand manipulated ruffles lend to the maritime theme as base of the piece almost takes the shape of a shell. 
 
Dishwasher safe and made from the sturdy durable stoneware. With every handmade and hand painted piece, shapes and designs. may vary ever so slightly . That is to be celebrated, as the piece is one of a kind and not made by a machine!
