The Birth of Venus by Botticelli has always held a special place in my heart, and has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my work.
 
For this piece, I’ve reimagined Botticelli’s Venus with a mermaid’s tail — combining the timeless beauty of the original painting with my own lifelong fascination with the sea and mythical creatures.
 
The imagery of Venus emerging from the water feels especially fitting for me, as the original piece was created during my own pregnancy and explores ideas of femininity, transformation and new beginnings.
 
Hand-sculpted and painted in a delicate blue Delftware-inspired style, this mug brings a little piece of mythology into the everyday. Designed to be both functional and decorative, it’s a small celebration of femininity, the sea and the magic of transformation — perfect for enjoying your favourite drink with a touch of the fantastical.
